Care questions · prepare the conversation

What belongs in a care conversation?

Bring the health concern itself to the visit. Leave room for an answer that points away from KPV.

Where can I discuss the problem?

A licensed doctor can be a starting point, at an in-person clinic or through telehealth, which means care held at a distance.

Make a short note of the concern, earlier attempts to address it and the change you hope for.

Whose licence matters for a remote visit?

Guidance checked on September 26, 2026, says the patient’s location decides which state must authorise the remote doctor.

Each state’s own rules, rather than this guidance, decide what permission is required.

In some states, doctors licensed elsewhere can sign up for permission to provide remote care, without getting that state’s full licence.

This is called telehealth registration; its conditions differ by state.

Ask for the doctor’s full name and any registration number. Ask the state medical board: “Does this doctor have current permission to treat me remotely while I am in this state?” Ask whether the registration’s conditions cover your visit.

How can I check the names I am given?

The doctor

The state medical board lists whether a doctor’s licence is current and any public action it has taken against the doctor.

Match the full name against the board’s record; open the details rather than stopping at a search result.

The pharmacy

The Food and Drug Administration is abbreviated FDA; its pharmacy page leads to each state’s licence search.

Request the pharmacy’s name, including who prepares the product and who sends it. Look up that name in the state record.

Does someone assess me and answer questions?

The group representing state medical boards publishes advice, but each state decides what doctors are required to do.

In guidance reviewed in September 2026, the group says an unchanging online question sheet alone is not an acceptable medical assessment.

The doctor needs a way to ask more questions about your answers.

The guidance also calls for an exchange in which you can raise your own questions with the doctor.

Who will hear my questions?

A clinician is the health professional assessing the concern. Ask the service to name the person reviewing your answers. Find out how that person will get more detail from you and how you can ask them a question.

Which questions are worth writing down?

Compounding means a pharmacy prepares a medicine from ingredients.

Under US federal rules checked on September 26, 2026, pharmacies filling individual prescriptions could not use KPV as a raw ingredient.

  • Which health concern are we addressing?
  • What other treatments have evidence for that condition?
  • Which law permits this pharmacy to make KPV from raw ingredients for me? Please show me the rule and explain how KPV meets it.
  • Is the proposed product a shot, a cream or something else? What is its strength, which pharmacy makes it, and how is its quality checked?
  • Who handles questions after the visit?

What does the proposed total include?

Separate the conversation about care from the question of what is being charged.
